Irish Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 to 3/4 pkg. raisins (golden and dark)
1 c. chopped nuts
1 egg, beaten
2 Tbsp. shortening or oil
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 pkg. currants
2 Tbsp. caraway seed
1 1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
-
Mix dry ingredients together.
Use some of the flour to mix with raisins and currants (to keep them from sticking together). Add the liquids to the dry ingredients and the fruit mixture, then nuts and pour this mixture into a well-greased and floured tube pan (10-inch), Bundt pan or 9 x 5 x 2-inch loaf pan.
When making for Christmas, I use colored candied sprinkles.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for approximately 1 hour.
(Batter will be thick.)
