Ingredients

1 1/4 c. margarine, softened
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 c. cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts or chocolate chips
Preparation

Cream margarine and sugar.
Add eggs and vanilla; blend well. Combine flour, cocoa and baking soda.
Blend into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts or chips, if desired.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 9 minutes.
(Do not overbake.
Cookies will be soft.
They'll puff during baking and flatten upon cooling.)
Cool on cookie sheet until set, about 1 minute.
Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
