Hard Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 3/4 c. granulated sugar
    1 1/4 c. white Karo syrup
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. oil flavoring of your choice
    1 tsp. food coloring
    powdered sugar, sifted
Preparation
    Cook sugar, syrup and water in saucepan to 300\u00b0 on candy thermometer. Remove from heat. Add coloring and flavoring. Stand well back from pan so as not to inhale fumes. Pour quickly into 12 x 15-inch shallow pan that has been heavily filled with sifted powdered sugar. Begin cutting with scissors as quickly as you can lift a corner. Place pieces separately on wax paper that has been lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar. Seal in a tight container when completely cool.
