Ingredients

1/2 box raisins
1 c. water
2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
pinch of salt
1/4 c. juice from cooked raisins
3 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. nut meats
Preparation

Cook raisins in water and cool.
Cream brown sugar and shortening.
Add eggs, salt and raisin juice.
Sift together and add flour, soda and baking powder.
Add cooked raisins and nut meats.
Spread on a greased 12 x 15-inch pan.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
Put a light powdered sugar icing over cookies after baking.
Cut in squares.
You may substitute chocolate or butterscotch morsels in place of nuts.
