Baked Onion Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. peanut oil
    4 c. chopped onion
    1 c. light cream
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    fine, dry bread crumbs
Preparation
    Heat oil in a large skillet.
    Add onion and 1/4 cup cream. Cook over low heat until onions are tender (5 minutes).
    Measure 1/4 cup onion mixture into 9 (5 ounce) custard cups.
    Beat eggs, remaining cream, salt and pepper until light.
    Pour an equal amount (2 1/2 tablespoons) over each cup of onions and sprinkle with bread crumbs.
    Set custard cups in a pan of hot water and bake in a preheated oven at 350\u00b0
    for 25 to 30 minutes or when custard is \"set\" or firm.
    You may use one larger baking dish, but cooking time will be longer.
    Serve hot.
