Toffee Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 egg yolk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    egg white
    1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Cream together margarine and sugar.
    Add flour, egg yolk and vanilla, beating well.
    Spread evenly in greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
    Brush top with egg white.
    Sprinkle with walnuts.
    Bake at 275\u00b0 for 1 hour and 25 minutes or until golden brown.
    Remove from oven.
    Cut into bars immediately and cool on wire rack.
    Store, tightly covered, at least 3 days before serving.
    Makes approximately 4 dozen.
