18-Hour Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, torn into small pieces
    1 c. celery, finely chopped
    1 c. green pepper, finely chopped
    1 red onion, finely chopped
    1 pkg. frozen peas
    approximately 12 strips crisp, crumbled bacon (use 1 pkg.)
    1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
    1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    8 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
Preparation
    Layer ingredients in order listed into a large bowl.
    Spread out each layer evenly (including mayonnaise).
    Cover and \"marinate\" overnight.
