Rhubarb Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. rhubarb
    1/4 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening (part butter)
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 3/4 c. brown sugar or white
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    3 c. flour
    1 to 2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Chop the rhubarb into 1/4-inch pieces; sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar and set aside.
    Cream the shortening, salt, 1 3/4 cups brown or white sugar and vanilla.
    Add the eggs.
    Add alternately the buttermilk, soda, flour and cinnamon.
    Mix in rhubarb.
    Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Add topping.
