Sausage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 to 2 lb. sausage (link)
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    1 c. minced onion
    1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
    1/4 c. oil
    salt and pepper
    1 c. raw rice
    1 can beef consomme
    3 c. hot water
    1/2 c. slivered almonds (optional)
Preparation
    Cut sausage into 1/4-inch pieces.
    Add vegetables, salt and pepper to oil in a heavy saucepan; saute.
    Drain.
    Add consomme and rice.
    Place ingredients in a greased 4-quart shallow baking dish. Pour in hot water and stir well.
    Cover and bake for 45 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
    Remove cover.
    Add almonds and bake an additional 15 minutes.
    Serves 8 to 10.
