10 Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, broken up
    1 c. chopped celery
    4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
    1 c. frozen peas, rinsed in cold water
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 medium onion, chopped
    8 strips bacon, fried crisp and crumbled
    1 can garbanzo beans, drained
    1 (16 oz.) jar mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    4 oz. grated Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Place lettuce in large bowl.
    Add rest of ingredients in order, in layers over lettuce.
    Top with mayonnaise that has been mixed with 2 tablespoons sugar.
    Sprinkle grated cheese over mayonnaise.
    Refrigerate 12 hours.
    This looks good fixed in large glass bowl so layers show.
