Aunt Sue'S Chocolate Chip Buttermilk Cookies(Makes Enough For Several Hungry Kids.) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. white sugar
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits
    1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
Preparation
    Stir together the flour and soda; set aside.
    Cream the sugars and shortening
    until
    light and fluffy, using mixer at medium speed.
    Add
    eggs,
    one
    at
    a time, beating well after each addition.
    Blend
    in vanilla.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk
    to
    the
    creamed mixture, beating well after each addition,
    using
    mixer
    at
    low
    speed.
    Stir
    in chocolate bits and nuts.
    Drop by teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto greased baking
    sheets.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until
    golden
    brown.
    Remove
    from
    baking sheets. Cool on racks. Makes about 9 dozen cookies.
