Nanny Harris' Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. solid vegetable shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla extract (optional)
    4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. lemon extract
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    In a large bowl, cream sugar, shortening, eggs and extract.
    Gradually add flour, kneading until mixture is stiff enough to roll.
    On a lightly floured surface, roll dough 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut into desired shapes.
    Place on greased cookie sheets.
    Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
    Makes 6 dozen.
