Porcupine Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. ground beef (lean)
    1 1/2 c. rice (uncooked)
    1 egg, beaten
    1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix
    1 small onion
    1 (12 oz.) can tomato or mushroom sauce
    1 green pepper (optional)
    chopped celery (optional)
    fresh mushrooms (optional)
    salt and pepper (optional)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Thoroughly mix all ingredients in bowl. Shape meat into small balls (will be twice as big when done). Place the balls on a cookie sheet and bake in oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
    Reduce oven heat to 300\u00b0 and remove meatballs.
    Put meatballs in deep baking dish and pour tomato sauce or mushroom sauce over them.
    Bake for 45 minutes.
