Soft Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sifted self-rising flour
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. molasses
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 c. soft shortening
    1 egg, well beaten
    1/4 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Sift flour once.
    Add baking soda and spices, then sift again. Cream the shortening. Add sugar gradually. Cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well.
    Add molasses.
    Add flour and milk alternately, mixing well after each addition.
    Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on lightly greased cookie sheet about 2-inches apart.
    Bake 10 minutes at 400\u00b0.
