California Walnut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. granulated sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped Diamond walnuts
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Into mixing bowl, sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.
Cut in shortening.
Stir in 1 1/4 cups of walnuts.
Add egg, milk and vanilla; mix until ingredients are blended.
Turn into greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup walnuts over top.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 60 to 70 minutes, or until loaf tests done.
Let stand in pan 10 minutes.
Turn out onto wire rack to cool.
Makes 1 loaf.
