Ingredients

1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream butter, add sugar gradually.
Cream
until fluffy.
Add unbeaten egg and vanilla; beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Blend into creamed mixture. Divide dough.
Roll chilled dough on floured pastry cloth to 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut with floured cookie cutter.
Bake on unbuttered cookie sheet about 6 minutes at 400\u00b0. Cool on rack.
