War Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 lb. raisins
dash of salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
2 c. hot water
1 1/2 tsp. soda
2 1/2 c. flour

Preparation

Let
the
first
7 ingredients come to a boil over slow heat. Remove
from
stove and cool.
Add soda and flour.\tYou may
add different
fruit,
if you wish to have a fruit cake. Bake 1 hour or until done.
