No-Citron Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. dates, sliced
    1 c. raisins
    2/3 c. butter
    1 1/4 c. dark brown sugar
    1/4 c. dark molasses
    1 1/2 c. hot water
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. orange juice
    1 1/2 c. cherries
    2 c. chopped nuts
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Boil first 6 ingredients gently for 3 minutes.
    Cool in a large bowl.
    Beat in eggs; add orange juice, cherries and nuts.
    Sift remaining ingredients.
    Add gradually to fruit mixture.
    Makes three 7 x 3-inch pans or two 2 1/2 x 5-inch pans.
    Bake in slow oven at 275\u00b0 for approximately 1 hour, depending on pans used.
