Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. dates, cut in small pieces
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
3 c. sifted flour
1 egg
1 1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. orange marmalade or apricot jam
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Mix 1/2 cup flour with the dates and nuts. Set aside.
Blend together the egg, milk, oil, sugar and marmalade or jam. Sift the remaining flour, salt and baking powder into the bowl with the liquid mixture and mix quickly, only enough to moisten the flour. Add dates and nuts and fold in.
Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour. Test with toothpick.
Cool for 30 minutes on rack before turning out of pan. Cool thoroughly before wrapping to store.
Freezes very well.
