Soft Lemon Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    yellow food coloring
    1 egg
    1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. lemon extract
    3 to 4 c. flour
Preparation
    Combine sugar, shortening, salt and food coloring; blend thoroughly.
    Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
    Roll out small portions of dough at a time; cut with a biscuit cutter.
    Place on cookie sheet; if desired, sprinkle with sugar over top of cookies. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
    Yields 24 servings.
