Squash Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can yellow squash
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3/4 c. cornmeal (self-rising)
    1 egg, beaten
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation
    Cook squash until tender, about 15 minutes.
    Drain.
    Mash and drain again.
    Combine squash and remaining ingredients.
    Drop mixture by tablespoon into hot oil.
    Fry 5 minutes or until golden brown.
    Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
