Army And Lou'S Candied Sweet Potatoes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

6 medium sweet potatoes
1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 c. granulated sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. grated lemon peel
pinch of salt
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 c. water
1/4 c. butter or margarine
Preparation

In large, covered pot of boiling water, cook sweet potatoes for 15 to 20 minutes or until potatoes are nearly tender.
Cool until easy to handle.
Peel and cut lengthwise into 3/4-inch slices; arrange slices in a buttered or foil-lined 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
Combine sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, lemon peel, nutmeg and salt to taste in saucepan.
Stir in lemon juice and water until smooth.
Add butter, heat to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
Pour mixture over sweet potatoes. Bake, uncovered, in preheated 375\u00b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
Serves 6 to 8.
