Divinity - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. syrup
1/2 c. water
2 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
chopped pecans
Preparation

Mix sugar, syrup and water in saucepan and cook until mixture forms a hard ball.
Have ready the egg whites beaten stiff and cream of tartar and add syrup mixture until all is used (slowly). Beat for about four minutes and add vanilla.
Can add pecans now if adding, chopped.
When mixture holds its shape, drop from teaspoon on waxed paper and top with pecan halves or maraschino cherry halves (that have been drained on paper towel).
Makes about 2 1/2 dozen pieces.
