1 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in large bowl until smooth. Gradually work in flour with a wooden spoon to make a stiff dough; chill 30 minutes.
Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut with cutter, or into squares with a knife.
Bake about 30 minutes in a 300\u00b0 oven; do not overbake. Store in tightly covered container when cold.
