New England Baked Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. navy beans (1 1/2 lb.)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 c. catsup
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. water
    2 tsp. dry mustard
    1 Tbsp. dark molasses
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 lb. bacon
Preparation
    Simmer beans in 9 cups unsalted water for 30 minutes.
    Allow to stand, covered, for 1 1/2 hours or until beans are softened. Drain and put in crock-pot.
    Add remaining ingredients except bacon; mix well.
    Place bacon strips on top.
    Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours or on high 4 to 6 hours.
    Stir occasionally.
