Paul Bunyan'S Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large onions, chopped
    1 green pepper, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 c. vegetable oil
    2 lb. ground beef
    2 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 to 4 Tbsp. chili powder
    1 bay leaf, crushed
    1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
    3/4 tsp. oregano
    dash of paprika
    dash of cayenne
Preparation
    In large skillet or Dutch oven, saute onion, green pepper and garlic in oil until tender.
    Add ground beef and brown; drain off fat.
    Drain kidney beans and reserve syrup.
    Add beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings to beef mixture.
    Simmer 1 1/2 hours, covered.
    Add reserved bean liquid, if mixture becomes dry.
