Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
Preparation

Cream the shortening.
Gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture alternating with milk.
Cover and chill.
Work with half of the dough at a time.
Store remainder in refrigerator. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut and place cookies on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes.
Yields 3 dozen.
