Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. cucumbers
    12 medium onions (about 2 1/2 lb.)
    1 qt. vinegar (white vinegar makes lighter pickles)
    2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. turmeric powder
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers and onions very thin.
    Let stand in salt water (1 cup salt to each gallon of water) for 2 hours or longer. Drain.
    Boil in vinegar mixture until tender.
    Pack in jars. Seal.
    (Makes about 13 pints for the doubled recipe.)
