Lentil Soup(Greek) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. lentils
    2 qt. beef or chicken broth
    salt and pepper
    1 onion, chopped
    1 carrot, chopped
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1/4 c. olive oil
    1/2 c. tomato sauce
    vinegar (optional)
Preparation
    Simmer lentils in stock with salt and pepper to taste for 1 hour. Add remaining ingredients, except vinegar.
    Cook until vegetables are tender, about 1/2 hour. Add a teaspoon of vinegar to each bowl as it is served, if desired.
    Cooking time:
    1 1/2 hours.
