Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/8 lb. salt pork or 2 lb. butter
    1 pt. minced clams
    1 onion, chopped
    1 qt. milk
    2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
Preparation
    Dice salt pork and cook until crisp in saucepan; remove pork scraps.
    Saute onion in pork fat or butter until golden.
    Add potatoes and just enough water to be seen.
    Season with salt and pepper to taste, then cover and bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat to low and simmer until potatoes are tender.
    Add clams; let simmer for 2 minutes on low heat.
    Add hot milk and serve.
