Ingredients

5 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. melted lard
1 tsp. grated nutmeg
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
about 2 qt. flour
1 pt. buttermilk
2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Beat eggs.
Add sugar and lard; mix rest of the dry ingredients
Combine the two mixtures with the milk.
Knead slightly.
Pat and roll into 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut or shape into form.
Fry in deep hot oil.
Dust with powdered sugar.
