Fettuccine Alfredo - cooking recipe

1 (16 oz.) pkg. fettuccine noodles
3/4 c. margarine
1/2 tsp. garlic powder (not salt)
2 c. whipping cream
3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese (fresh is best), divided
1/3 c. sour cream
1 tsp. sugar
Preparation

Cook fettuccine in a large pot per directions on package. Drain well and return to pot.
Melt margarine in a saucepan and add garlic powder.
Add to fettuccine.
Gradually add whipping cream, 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, sugar and sour cream.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thoroughly heated.
Be careful as this scorches and sticks easy!
Remove from heat and serve immediately.
Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper to taste.
This is a good basic white cream sauce pasta dish that you can experiment with.
Add cooked and diced clams, shrimp, crab meat, etc.
