Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. flour (plain)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream first 3 ingredients until like, but not as thick as, pie crust.
Measure egg and if it isn't 1/4 cup, fill on up with water to equal 1/4 cup.
Add egg and vanilla.
Mix.
Roll out to make cookies or drop by teaspoon and flatten slightly.
Bake at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
