Coleslaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    8 c. shredded cabbage
    1 green pepper, diced
    2 or 3 carrots, grated
    1 medium chopped onion
Preparation
    Bring the first 3 ingredients to a boil. Cool. Combine with the rest of the ingredients.
    Mix well. May add 2 or 3 tablespoons mayonnaise, if desired.
    Chill.
    Keeps in refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.
