Pecan Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 lb. butter
    7 eggs, separated
    4 3/8 c. flour
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 4 Tbsp. wine
    1 qt. chopped nuts
    1 lb. cherries (candied)
    1 lb. pineapple (candied)
Preparation
    Mix together and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
    Cool in pans.
    Makes one angel food cake pan and one loaf or 3 loaf pans.
