Toffee Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft butter or oleo
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg, separated
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2/3 c. finely chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream butter.
    Add sugar, vanilla and egg yolk.
    Beat until light.
    Add sifted dry ingredients and 1/2 of nuts.
    Mix well and press into 15 x 10-inch pan.
    Brush top with slightly beaten whites and sprinkle with remaining nuts.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cut in squares while warm.
