Date-Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    1 pkg. (2 c.) cut up dates
    1 Tbsp. butter
    2 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. walnuts, chopped
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over the dates.
    Mix butter with sugar, egg and vanilla.
    Sift flour, baking soda and salt.
    Add the dry ingredients to the date-water and sugar mix.
    Add the walnuts. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour or until done.
    Makes 2 loaves.
