Old Fashioned Stork Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cup shortening
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/3 cup molasses
    1/2 cup buttermilk
    1 egg
    3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening with molasses.
    Add egg.
    Mix all dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.
    Add milk and beat to a stiff dough.
    Roll out to thickness of pie dough.
    Cut out with scalloped pie can.\tPlace on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.\tPut together with sweetened well flavored applesauce.
    Makes 9 layers.
    Let set a few hours before serving.
