Ingredients

5 lb. flour
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. salt
1/4 lb. shortening
2 pkg. yeast
2 1/2 c. water (more or less)
Preparation

Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening together; add yeast and water.
Mix until smooth.
Put in nine 1 pound loaves; let rise about 1 hour.
Roll out dough to form long loaves.
Put in loaf pans; let set for 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down; let rise again.
Bake in preheated 400\u00b0 oven about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Yield: 9 loaves.
