Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1/2 c. softened margarine or butter
1 1/3 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
4 eggs
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. rolled oats
3 c. flour
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation

Beat first 4 ingredients with electric mixer.
Add next 3 ingredients.
Mix thoroughly.
Then add next 5 ingredients.
Beat well.
Stir in chips and nuts.
Drop a scant 1/4 cup of dough on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Space 3-inches apart.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 16 to 18 minutes.
Makes about 3 dozen large cookies. These are the best; our Cub Scouts love them!
