Jam Cake(Makes 3 Layers) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    2 c. buttermilk
    2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. cocoa
    2 c. jam
    3 c. flour
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs, one at a time; mix well.
    Add soda to buttermilk.
    Let stand until it foams.
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Add one cup at a time to other mixture and beat. Add buttermilk, a little at a time, then fold in the jam last. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
    Makes a very large cake.
