Grandma Westermeyer'S Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 C. brown sugar
    2 C. raisins
    2 C. water
    1 tsp. shortening
    3 C. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    dash of salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 C. walnuts
Preparation
    Bring the sugar, water and raisins to a boil and simmer about 5 minutes. Add 1 tsp. shortening while hot. Cool. Sift flour, soda, baking powder and salt together. Mix with cooled raisin mixture. Add a generous cup of walnuts and divide between 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour.
