Bernie Arnold'S Chinese Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. round steak, cut 1-inch thick
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    4 Tbsp. soy sauce
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1 c. canned bean sprouts, drained
    2 tomatoes, quartered or 1 c. canned tomatoes
    2 green peppers, seeded and cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. cold water
    4 green onions, sliced
    rice, cooked
Preparation
    Slice steak as thinly as possible and cut in crosswise pieces (for easier cutting, cut meat when partially thawed).
