Barney'S Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/3 c. flour
    2/3 c. shortening
    3/4 c. powdered cocoa
    1 3/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 large eggs
    1 1/2 c. slightly sour milk or 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Sift flour, soda, salt and the cocoa together 3 times.
    Cream the sugar and shortening until light and fluffy; add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Add the dry ingredients alternately with the sour milk and vanilla; beat for another 4 minutes.
    Turn into a 13 x 9-inch pan, which has been greased and floured.
    Bake in a moderate oven at 325\u00b0 until done (30 to 40 minutes).
    Cool, frost and serve.
    Makes 20 generous servings.
