Grannies Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dates, pitted
    2/3 c. butter
    1/4 c. dark molasses (I use dark Karo)
    1 c. raisins (seedless)
    1 1/4 c. brown sugar
    1 1/2 c. hot water
    1 lb. mixed fruit (pineapple, cherry)
    2 c. chopped nuts
    2 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Combine first 6 ingredients.
    Boil gently for 3 minutes, then cool in large mixing bowl.
    Add mixed fruit and nuts.
    Beat in eggs.
    Sift in flour and
    add cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, salt and soda.
    Beat well after each addition.
    Pour into tube pan and bake in very slow oven at 275\u00b0 for 2 1/2 hours or until completely done.
