Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/4 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg (1/2 tsp. if you like nutmeg)
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
apricot or strawberry preserves
Preparation

In large mixer bowl, cream together shortening, granulated sugar and brown sugar.
Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla; mix until smooth.
Sift together dry ingredients; stir into batter. Chill.
