Nanny Marge'S Date Loaf - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. light corn syrup
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. oleo
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    In saucepan, mix sugar, milk, syrup, margarine and dates.
    Cook to soft-ball stage (240\u00b0).
    Add pecans and vanilla.
    Beat until mixture becomes firm.
    Pour onto damp clean kitchen towel and shape into 1 1/2-inch roll.
    Refrigerate until firm.
    Slice to serve.
