Ingredients

2 c. flour
1/2 c. flour
1 c. raisins
1 c. candied cherries
1 c. pecans
2 c. blackberry jam
1 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
5 whole eggs, separated
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. nutmeg
1 Tbsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Beat egg yolks first.
Cream sugar and shortening.
Add egg yolks.
Add dry ingredients (except 1/2 cup flour) alternating with buttermilk to which soda has been added.
(Let soda rise to top of cup.)
Dredge fruits in 1/2 cup flour.
Add to mixture. Fold in beaten egg whites last.
Bake at 225\u00b0 for 30 minutes, then bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
