Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can coconut
1 c. chopped nuts
5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preparation

Cream butter and shortening; add sugar and beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well.
Combine flour and soda; add alternately with buttermilk.
Stir in vanilla, coconut and nuts. Fold in egg whites.
Pour batter into 3 greased and floured pans. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
Cool; frost with cream cheese frosting.
If using self-rising flour, omit soda.
