Aunt Lulu'S Grit Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 ears corn
    1 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 whole egg, well beaten
    1/2 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Select 6 ears corn just beyond the \"milk stage.\"
    Cut off cob and remove all juice from cob; as you would for cream-style corn. Should have about 2 1/2 cups.
    Sift flour, salt, baking powder and sugar together over the raw corn; mix thoroughly.
    Stir in egg alternately with melted shortening.
    No liquid is necessary.
    Bake in shallow pan 30 to 35 minutes at 425\u00b0.
    Serve hot with butter. Serves 6.
